Abid, 9, Norzia, 8 och Abas, 10, dig daily in the remains of the latest flash flood so that cars can pass on the road below their house. The economic and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has forced many children to drop out of school to help support their families. The children hope that motorist will stop and donate a penny as thanks for their hard work. Afghanistan is one of the countries that emits the least carbon dioxide, but at the same time one of the countries where the consequences of climate change are most visible. And this affects an already poor and war-torn country. In Afghanistan, the temperature has measured an increase of 1.8°C in Afghanistan between 1950 and 2010. That is twice as high as the global average.
